Looking back at my daughters’ newborn photos, I’m not just looking at their perfect little lashes. I’m reminiscing about that blanket they loved, where we lived, the pets we had. Their photos don’t just show their perfect little fingers and toes, but also the life we had and the people who were a part of it.

I set aside enough time for diaper changes, snacks (for humans of ALL ages), and soothing of your sweet babe. Nothing is rushed.

Newborn images are something that only happens once. And that’s a big deal! I take great care with my newborn sessions – taking care both of your images, as well as the comfort of your family.

I’m here to help burp babies and entertain toddlers. I can swaddle, I can rock, I can read alllll the board books!

Includes family photos

All of my newborn sessions include family photos. I usually start with the whole family, followed by all photos with older siblings. Once those are done, we move on to photos with parents with baby, and finish up with baby solo.

Digital Images

Digital images will be delivered within 3 weeks of your session, in an online gallery.

Newborn clients will be able to share the entire gallery with family and friends, for unlimited downloads.

Albums

Deluxe Sessions include a 20 page, 10″x10″ album, with either a linen or leather cover. Your baby’s name will be embossed on the front cover.

Albums are available for a la carte purchase:

Canvas Prints

All canvas prints are 1.5″ deep, stretched over a wooden frame, and come ready to hang.

How to Prepare for a Newborn Session

Preparing for a newborn session can be overwhelming and confusing, and trying to search for answers online makes it more so.

To help, I’ve put together an extensive guide for my clients on how to prepare for their newborn photography sessions with me. Everything from what to wear, how much to clean your house (not much), and when to feed your baby (when they’re hungry).

The Newborn Session Process

Here’s what to expect when working with me. I work hard to make every newborn session easy and fun. When you inquire, here’s what you can expect to happen next.

01 | Inquire & Book

To get started, fill out my contact form. Include your estimated due date.

Obviously babies arrive on their own schedule, so at this time I will just pencil your due date on my calendar.

At this time, I will send over a contract and invoice for the deposit ($100), both of which can be handled online.

02 | Session Day

Once you’re home from delivery, and are ready to schedule, send me a text or email to let me know. At this point I will send over dates and times.

I suggest setting aside approximately 2-2.5 hours for your session. That gives us plenty of time for photos as well as feeding, diaper changes, and soothing.

03 | Gallery Delivery

You’ll receive sneak peeks within one week of your session, and your full online gallery within 2 weeks of your session.

You are welcome to share the gallery link with any family or friends who may want to view or download.

04 | Order Products

Deluxe clients will choose their favorite images for their album. Within 2 weeks, you will receive an album proof to make any changes to the layout. Once approved, you’ll have a finished album on your doorstep in one week!

Frequently Asked Questions

I do not have a studio at this time. All of my newborn sessions take place in client homes.

While I schedule most of my newborn sessions for weekday mornings, I can make an exception for work and school conflicts. But it may take slightly longer to get on the schedule due to weekend family sessions.

Without exception, all of my newborn sessions are scheduled to start between 8 am and 10:30 am.

I tell my clients to set aside approximately 2-2.5 hours for a newborn session. This gives us plenty of time for photos as well as feedings, diaper changes, etc.

If you have an older child or a spouse that needs to head to work, I can have their portion of the session done in 30 minutes or less at the start of the session.

I have photographed in every size and style of home. Tiny and bright, big and dark. All the images on this page are in Real Client Homes, and I have yet to have a newborn session in a home that’s too much of anything for photos.

While I do want to show what your family and home are like at this point in your life, I also know how stressful having a newborn is, and that vacuuming and decluttering maybe aren’t the top priority right now. I won’t show or photograph the less glamourous parts of newborn life, but instead will focus on what your home feels like, rather than exactly how it looks.

Most sessions take place in the living room or nursery, and possibly master bedroom. The last one is very definitely up to my clients, as I know that room was chaos when my babies were little!

Yes! All newborn sessions include family photos, as well as photos of baby solo.

I may wrap you baby in a swaddle during the session, and will turn baby from side to side, and possibly onto their tummy for their session. But at no time will I be positioning your baby into unnatural positions such as “head on hands”. I think it’s incredibly important to show babies as they are, and am not comfortable with elaborate posing of newborns.

I recommend neutrals or earth tones for the whole family. Cream, gray, muted green/brown/blue all look lovely on most people. Jeans or leggings with a comfy, oversized top for mom, t-shirt and jeans for dad.

For baby, I recommend a well-fitting onesie or gown (long sleeved or short sleeved) in a solid color or minimal pattern (tiny stripes). While newborn dresses and elaborate outfits ARE adorable, it also means one more thing to adjust when we finally have baby settled. I have yet to meet an overall strap that will stay on a two week old!

If you want photos of tiny baby feet and hands, plan on an outfit that accommodates that (ie no footed jammies).

While I’m more than happy to include small stuffies or important items (signs, blankets, hats, booties), I do not pose babies in basket or hats or other items. I am happy to refer to photographers who are very skilled in baby posing and props!

I send full-sized sneak peeks within 5 business days of your session. Your newborn gallery will be available within 2 weeks of your session. You’ll be able to share the gallery link with any family or friends who may want to view or download!

Of course! I have a dog and two cats myself, so I’m not bothered by excited fur friends, including jumpy dogs. If they’re upset by my visit, you’re also welcome to keep them in the backyard until it’s their time to shine.

I’m a newborn photographer, based in Cheyenne, WY, since 2016. Hard to believe this, but we’ve lived in Wyoming almost 20 years!

I’m mom of three girls, including a set of twins. Literally NOTHING can surprise me at this point! Crazy toddlers, jumpy dogs, cranky newborns…I’ve been through it all, I swear.

I’m laid-back, organized, and somehow grew up to be an introvert with excellent small talk skills. I have a background in engineering, wildland fire, and wedding photography, so I promise I have no shortage of stories to entertain you with!
