Family Photo Session Checklist
Wondering what you need to bring to your family photo session? I’ve got you covered!
Family photos should be fun. Now say it again, except with more feeling! That’s the energy I want all my family clients to bring to their photo session. But as a mom, I also know that the easiest way to make things fun is to plan ahead.
I know you’ve already thought about things like outfits, so I won’t cover that here (click over here for my what to wear guide!). But this checklist covers the things you may not have thought about!
What To Have Done Before your Session
- Feed your kids, no matter what time your session is!
- Swap out transition lens glasses for regular glasses
- Make sure everyone is comfortable in their outfit
- Check to see if shoes fit (especially babies and toddlers!)
- Swap out/take off Apple Watches (optional)
- Let me know if you’re bringing your dog
Essentials for Every Family
- Bring a small bag for storing phones, sunglasses, and keys
- Mosquito spray/bug spray (must have for mountain sessions in summer)
- Take off hair ties!
- Layers, depending on weather
For the Little Ones
- Water
- Snacks
- Layers
- Kleenex/wipes
- Extra diaper
- Potty training potty (can hang out at the car, but if you’re potty training, you’ll want this!)
- Extra outfit, including underwear, shoes, and socks, if you’re potty training
- Blanket/lovey/stuffies
For Mom
- Chapstick/lip gloss
- Did you wear the right necklace? Earrings? Rings?
- Water
Bringing Your Dog?
- Leashes
- E-collar
- Treats
- Poop bags
Things to Leave in the car
- Tablets
- Plastic toys (stick with books, stuffies, and blankets)
- Headphones
- Phones (when possible)
