Family Sessions

Family. It comes in all shapes and sizes. It can be blood, it can be chosen. It might be big, it might be small. One mom, two dads, stepmom, grandpa. All my sessions include the final digital files in an online gallery, along with a print release.

Family sessions start at $350 plus tax.

FAQS

• What does the session include?

My session fees include the time for your session, along with all the final digital files and a print release. Your files will be available for download in an online gallery. USBs are available upon request for an additional fee.

• What should we wear?

Once you meet me, you'll realize I am probably the least qualified person ever to answer this question. I am happy to photograph families in coordinated outfits and families in their favorite outfits (these categories never overlap). I will say that you should start with the person who has the strongest opinion about their outfit and go from there. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dress for the weather! I will shoot in almost any temperature, and can promise you it is extremely obvious if you or your children are cold (not to mention it's miserable for all involved!).

• Where should we go?

My favorite sessions are ones that are in a favorite spot. Show me that gorgeous aspen grove you hike through. Let's explore the grass near your house. Give me the address for your family cabin. Take me camping!

• What time is best for photos?

During the spring, summer, and fall, I typically schedule sessions for 1-1.5 hours before sunset for the best light. I know this doesn't always work the best for bedtimes for tiny people, so I am willing to adjust that as needed.

Winter light is more forgiving, and I am happy to shoot at most points during the day. Weather (*wind* cough, cough) tends to be the determining factor for timing on winter shoots.

• What should we expect during our session?

I typically start out with posed photos of the whole family, move on to smaller groupings (siblings, parents), then end the session with candid photos. Not only does this gives me a chance to get to know your family a bit better, but the smaller members of society tend to be more cooperative for the first few photos.

• What if my child won't cooperate?

Every family has their wrench in the works, including my own! Give me time and space, and I promise I'll sort it out. I don't love being in front of the camera myself, but sometimes having a job or a task to do helps a little one find their place in the chaos.

• Are you LGBTQ-friendly?

Yes. Yes, yes, yes.

• Do you do extended family sessions?

I do! Contact me for pricing.

I know how hard it can be to get families together. But please note that I will not schedule these over Thanksgiving or Christmas break, and are usually booked during Cheyenne Frontier Days due to my wedding schedule.
