About Me.

I'm Liz!
I've been photographing families and newborns since 2015, and chasing my own three daughters since 2010. Swimming, running, knitting, baking, gardening and general outdoor mayhem are my jam!
We've spent the last 8 years located just over the Wyoming/Colorado border, but frequently travel to visit family in Longmont and Denver, and got married on the Big Thompson River in 2007. Thanks to my husband's job as a wildland firefighter, we've spent the last 18 years all over the PNW and northern Rockies.
Newborn sessions are some of my favorite, as they combine a little posing with a lot of photojournalism and details. I love getting to meet new families and hear their story of how they got to where they are now!
I love getting to spend any time I can in northern Colorado, and am available for newborn sessions in Fort Collins, Wellington, Bellevue, Laporte, Timnath, and Loveland.

Benefits of an At-Home Newborn Photography Session
Comfortable.
Easy.
In those first few weeks of having new babies, all I wanted to do was be in the comfort of my own home. It was quiet and cozy, and I could get the time and space I needed to both learn how to parent this new little one. I had my Boppy pillow, my nursing chair, all the burp rags, and my favorite snacks.
No loading up the carseat and diaper bag! Your toddler doesn't want to get dressed? No problem. We'll start with photos of baby and Mom, while we wait for big sister and Dad to finish up with breakfast. No need to worry about traffic or where to go, or even the weather!
Real.
Flexibility.
With an at home newborn session, you don't need to worry about whether you brought enough diapers, if you have enough backup outfits, or what to do when your baby spits up on you 5 minutes into your session. Everything you could possibly need (including your coffee) is only steps away!
I love getting to look back at where we lived when our kids were babies. The rooms, the furniture, the nursery I spent hours decorating when I was pregnant. I love having that glimpse into our lives 10+ years ago, as messy and not perfect as it may be!
Common Questions
What does the session fee include?
The session fee includes the session time, as well as all the final digital images from your session. I typically include 100+ images with every newborn session, along with a slideshow of your preview/sneak peek images.
Where are you located?
I am a 30 minute drive from Wellington or 45 minutes from Fort Collins. Travel is included in the session fee shown above for clients living in Fort Collins, Wellington, Windsor, Laporte, Bellevue, Timnath.
Are family photos included?
Yes!! I include family photos with every newborn session. Depending on the age and temperament of your older children, I typically start the session with family photos (on a couch, your bed, or the floor). I include photos of the entire family, as well as sibling photos (assuming your older child(ren) are up for it). Once those are done, we will move on to photos with mom and dad, as well as baby alone.
How long does a newborn photography session take?
I tell clients to set aside at least two hours for a newborn session. That will give us time for snacks and diaper changes without feeling rushed.
Do you do any newborn posing?
For me, one of the most incredible parts of the early days with a newborn are the connections being made with the rest of the family. Kisses from dad, snuggles with mom, hugs from big brother. For that reason, I've decided to focus my newborn sessions exclusively on lifestyle newborn photography, meaning that my sessions focus on the family and their connections with the family, versus on baby alone, surrounded by props and decorations.
I do include photos of the new baby by themselves, but these are typically minimal in style, using the crib or other blankets you have on hand. While I might swaddle them and adjust for the best light, I will not be posing your baby (see gallery of images above for examples).
Can we include props?
I only bring myself, my cameras, and a few neutral blankets to your session. You are welcome to have props on hand for me to include - think stuffies, special blankets, signs) - but they will be photographed from above, similar to a flat lay design on Instagram. You are welcome to ask to include props, but I make no promises that we'll be able to incorporate them.
How old should my baby be for a newborn session?
Since I don't do any posing, I don't need your baby to be asleep for our session. I've found that babies under two weeks tend to be a bit sleepier, which makes for quick and snuggly sessions. Older babies will often have their eyes open for more photos, but may also be starting to get baby acne and fussier.
What should we wear for our in home newborn photography session?
I have an entire page devoted to just this subject! Spoiler: neutrals are always a great choice, but the most important part is to be comfortable. For moms: oversized, comfortable tops with leggings. For dads: simple button up and jeans/shorts. For siblings: solid t-shirt/dress and jeans/pant/leggings. Newborn: white or solid colored onesie.
How should we prepare for our newborn session?
Don't panic clean! The last thing I want anyone with a newborn to do is feel like they need to deep clean their house. All I need is an open spot near a window with soft light. I will help you find the best spot for your photos when I arrive, and will help you take care of any items you may not want in photos (alarm clocks, breast pumps, etc).
If you don't want me in your master bedroom, that's completely fine. I'll have you show me around the parts of your house you're okay having photographed. Most clients have fabulous light in either the living room or nursery.
What is the best time of day for a newborn session?
I start all my newborn sessions between 9:30 and 10:30 am, so we can be done by lunch.
Can we include our pets?
Of course! I love including pets in photos, should you want them included. I have two cats and a (very crazy) dog of my own, so I'm always happy to have them around.
I'm not comfortable having my session in my home, but I really like lifestyle newborn photography. What now?
I would suggest looking for an Airbnb! I'm happy to help you find a space with tons of light, and Fort Collins always has quite a few options.
When should we book our session?
I take on a limited number of newborns each month, so I would recommend getting in touch as soon as possible. Most of my clients book around their 6th or 7th month of pregnancy.
Once you've paid your deposit ($50) and signed a contract, I will pencil in your due date. When the baby arrives and you're back home from the hospital, you can shoot me a quick text/email and we'll get you on the schedule! Note that during the months of May through October, most of my newborn sessions will need to be on weekday mornings.
Do you offer Fort Collins maternity sessions?
I do! Please see my maternity session info page for more info.
