FORT COLLINS NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

Relaxed In-Home newborn photography for everyday families

The first few weeks of having a newborn are a thrill, and never in the ways you expected. That tiny person in your lap? They’re *yours*. Forever and always. You can already see the adventures in your future – teaching them to ride a bike, showing them your favorite hiking trails, watching them learn to love their canine sibling as much as you do.

My newborn sessions are meant to document the first few weeks with your new baby, highlighting the connection you have with them, and them with you. No props, no posing – just you, your baby, and your family. Laid-back and relaxed, but with gentle direction to put everyone at ease.

Liz is just magic. She is so warm and easy-going and immediately makes the whole family feel at ease. My husband *hates* getting his photos taken, and he has said, “wow that was so much fun!”… if you’re looking for not only someone who will provide you with gorgeous, timeless photos but also someone who will warm your heart – look no further!” – Kate

What I can offer you

Experienced.

Not only do I have 10 years experience as a photographer, I have 13 years experience as a fellow mom (including a set of twins!).

I know exactly how important these photos are to your family, and how to take care of you and your family to make sure you have a stress-free experience.

Simple.

All of my newborn sessions take place in client homes. No need to worry about forgetting something, and everyone has snacks (and coffee) at their fingertips.

I’m here to help burp babies and entertain toddlers. I can swaddle, I can rock, I can read alllll the board books!

Relaxed.

Grab your coffee, turn on Spotify. Newborn sessions are always best when they feel like a Saturday morning.

I set aside enough time for diaper changes, snacks (for humans of ALL ages), and soothing of your sweet babe. Nothing is rushed.

The Newborn Session Process

Here’s what to expect when working with me. I work hard to make every newborn session easy and fun. When you inquire, here’s what you can expect to happen next.

01 | Inquire & Book

To get started, fill out my contact form. Include your estimated due date.

Obviously babies arrive on their own schedule, so at this time I will just pencil your due date on my calendar.

At this time, I will send over a contract and invoice for the deposit ($100), both of which can be handled online.

02 | Session Day

Once you’re home from delivery, and are ready to schedule, send me a text or email to let me know. At this point I will send over dates and times.

I suggest setting aside approximately 2-2.5 hours for your session. That gives us plenty of time for photos as well as feeding, diaper changes, and soothing.

03 | Gallery Delivery

You’ll receive sneak peeks within one week of your session, and your full online gallery within 2 weeks of your session.

You are welcome to share the gallery link with any family or friends who may want to view or download.

04 | Order Products

Deluxe clients will choose their favorite images for their album. Within 2 weeks, you will receive an album proof to make any changes to the layout. Once approved, you’ll have a finished album on your doorstep in one week!

All clients are welcome to order an album or canvases by emailing me at [email protected].

Frequently Asked Questions

Nope! All of my newborn sessions take place in client homes.

I recommend neutrals or earth tones for the whole family. Cream, gray, muted green/brown/blue all look lovely on most people. Jeans or leggings with a comfy, oversized top for mom, t-shirt and jeans for dad.

For baby, I recommend a well-fitting onesie or gown (long sleeved or short sleeved) in a solid color or minimal pattern (tiny stripes). While newborn dresses and elaborate outfits ARE adorable, it also means one more thing to adjust when we finally have baby settled. I have yet to meet an overall strap that will stay on a two week old!

If you want photos of tiny baby feet and hands, plan on an outfit that accommodates that (ie no footed jammies).

I tell my clients to set aside 2-2.5 hours for their session. That will give us plenty of time for photos, as well as diaper change, snacks (for people of all ages), and any soothing of baby.

If you have an older child, their portion of the session will be done as soon as they feel comfortable joining us. Photos of the whole family and sibling take about 30 minutes total.

Of course! I have a dog and two cats myself, so I’m not bothered by excited fur friends, including jumpy dogs. If they’re upset by my visit, you’re also welcome to keep them in the backyard until it’s their time to shine.

For newborn sessions, I bring two cameras, a 50mm lens, a 35 mm lens, and a small flash setup (stand, umbrella, light), as well as a couple simple wraps. I prefer to use client swaddles and blankets to personalize the experience, but not everyone has stretchy, neutral swaddles on hand!

Yes! All my newborn sessions include photos of baby solo, baby with family, baby with siblings, baby with each parent, as well as a couple solo sibling photos.

While I ask that clients set aside about 2-3 hours total for the session, your older children will only be needed for about 30 minutes at the start of the session to wrap up whole family and sibling photos.

For me, one of the most incredible parts of the early days with a newborn are the connections being made with the rest of the family. Kisses from dad, snuggles with mom, hugs from big brother. For that reason, I’ve decided to focus my newborn sessions exclusively on lifestyle newborn photography, meaning that my sessions focus on the family and their connections with the family, versus on baby alone, surrounded by props and decorations.

I do include photos of the new baby by themselves, but these are typically minimal in style, using the crib or other blankets you have on hand. While I might swaddle them and adjust for the best light, I will not be posing your baby.

Since I don’t do any posing, I don’t need babies to be asleep for the session. Most of my clients schedule their session for 7 to 21 days post-birth (unless your baby was born early, then it’s 7-21 days post due date).

For newborn sessions, you will receive a generous sneak peek album and slideshow within 3 business days of your session. Your full gallery will be finished and arrive in your inbox in 1-2 weeks.

I do! See my maternity session page for more info. Fort Collins and nearby areas are included in my Standard and Deluxe Sessions.

I have more answers! Send me a message and we’ll chat.

Hi, I’m Liz

We’ve spent the last 9 years located just over the Wyoming/Colorado border, but frequently travel to visit family in Longmont and Denver, and got married on the Big Thompson River in 2007. Thanks to my husband’s job as a wildland firefighter, we’ve spent the last 20 years all over the PNW and northern Rockies.

Newborn sessions are some of my favorite, as they combine a little posing with a lot of photojournalism and details. I love getting to meet new families and hear their story of how they got to where they are now!

I love getting to spend any time I can in Colorado, and am available for newborn sessions in Fort Collins, Wellington, Bellevue, Laporte, Timnath, and Loveland (and beyond!).
