I had SO much fun with this lifestyle cake smash session last month! Amber did an incredible job putting together a "Where The Wild Things Are" themed shoot for her little guy, M. Not only were the decorations, cake, and costume spot-on, but she managed to coordinate it perfectly with the existing colors in her living room! Not an easy feat to pull off when you've just moved into base housing less than six months prior.
We'd briefly chatted about doing the session outdoors, but we quickly decided that January in Wyoming was too unpredictable. It turned out to be a really sunny and relatively warm-ish morning, but there was no way M would have been as smiley as he was if we would have been inside!
M was born right before the pandemic hit, his parents had recently moved, and one year olds can be unpredictable about strangers at the best of times, so I wasn't sure how this would go. I told Amber that even though we had scheduled a thirty minute session, I would spend as much time as I needed to to get M to warm up to me, even if it meant I was there twice as long as planned! Lucky for me, he was SUCH a friendly little guy, so it didn't take long before he was trying to dig in my camera bag and grab my lenses (not my first rodeo, so neither of these things were an issue).
We started with a quick family lifestyle session in the living room before moving to the not-carpeted kitchen for an expert-level cake smash. M took to it like a fish to water!
Thank you to this sweet, little family for letting me into your home!
