I was over the moon when I heard that Michelle and Vance wanted me to take their family photos! I met them in what I think was summer 2019, but at this point in the fog that is the 2020s, it could be later! Vance had been hired on to work with my husband, and they were moving their family to Cheyenne, Wyoming.
While I haven't gotten to spend as much time with them as I would like (thanks, pandemic), the wildland fire community makes for fast friends. I will happily and quickly bond with spouses over terrible summer schedules, and the weeks-long assignments with no cell service. The emergent "well, I guess we need a new water heater/tires/roof, good thing you're in Alaska" sort of situations. The "I probably wouldn't have said yes to all these commitments had I realized you were going to still be on fires in October" sort of situations. Michelle might be even better at the chaos than I am - juggling junior high and high school sports schedules, all the way down to a preschooler.
I had so much fun with this session! Dogs, kids, cactus...gotta love it all! A huge, huge thank you to Michelle and Vance for trusting me with their family photos. We'll definitely figure out a way to squeeze it in between fire assignments again in 2022!
