Rose Family | Wyoming Film Photographer
A few years ago, I decided we needed family photos. During my search, I ran across Janelle Rose Photography, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and was blown away by her talent. Only problem? She was in Cheyenne, and I was in Rock Springs. I tried to get our schedules to match up for two summers, but thanks to my husband’s unpredictable work schedule, he was never in town when she was visiting southwest Wyoming. I continued to follow her work and (*cough, cough*) may have fan girl squealed when she liked my business page on Facebook.
Fast forward to late 2015, after I had moved to Cheyenne. We were able to finally connect, and realized that not only did we both live in Cheyenne, we actually lived in the same neighborhood, with our kids attending the same school. When I asked for families willing to let me photograph their families on film, she was one of the first to step up. I’ll admit, I may have panicked a bit inside.
But as always, her family was sweet, and lovely, and adorable. The Wyoming wind made an appearance, which made for a bit of a smokey s’mores session, but we still managed a lovely evening in their yard, complete with s’mores, scooters, and Moscow mules.
I’ve also gotten to know Janelle professionally, and she gave me the opportunity to second shoot/assist for her on her weddings this summer. I’ve had a fantastic time, learned so much about the business, and met so many wonderful people. And the wedding season isn’t even halfway done! I’m excited to see what fall brings.
A huge thank you to Janelle and her family! Their session was shot on Fuji 400H and Kodak Portra 400, with developing by The FIND Lab.
